Effect of Low-Level Laser Therapy on Patients With Class II Mandibular Deficiency Treated with Farmand Functional Appliance

Introduction: Considering the positive effects of a low-level laser on new bone formation, we aimed to investigate in treatment patients with class II mandibular deficiency treated Farmand functional appliance. Methods: Twenty-two growing aged 10-14 years were randomly divided into "Farmand" and "Farmand+Laser" groups. All Patients "Farmand+laser" group exposed irradiation (980 nm, 100 mw, 4 points around temporomandibular joints, seconds each point) weekly for three months after 3-4 weeks using Lateral cephalometry radiographs taken from all before period, changes skeletal dental parameters measured. Results: The association particular appliance led greater increase effective length mandible (Co-Gn, P=0.048), anterior sagittal position (SNB, P=0.029), ramus (Co-Go, P=0.028), it showed further decrease discrepancy between jaws (ANB, P=0.000) compared alone. Conclusion: application chosen protocol conjunction improved reduced two jaws.
